With the exception of Google Contacts, WhoPaste offers optional 'duplicate detection'!
WhoPaste does NOT provide a 'merge' function!
Because WhoPaste supports 4 different databases and because 'merge' is a rat's nest of code,
we have elected to not build 'merge' into WhoPaste.
What WhoPaste can do is detect the imminent creation of a duplicate and act accordingly.
Open the WhoPaste Preferences to the 'Database' section
Each database offers a 'Duplicates' tabView item where you can specify what behavior you want.
You can select:
- whether or not WhoPaste is watching for duplicates
- the criteria that WhoPaste uses to determine a duplicate (email address, name, telephone number)
If detection is turned on and WhoPaste determines that by using your settings you are about to create a duplicate,
WhoPaste will cause the application to display the record which is already on file.
WhoPaste will not open its review window.
The existing contact and the new information are both available for the user.
You, the user, can then elect what, if any, data will be updated.
