  • What is the easiest way to use WhoPaste?
SNOW LEOPARD (Mac OS X 10.6+)
This is definitely the easiest way to use WhoPaste! -- You don't even have to 'Copy' text to the clipboard!
Just select some text -- control-click (right-click) to open the context menu -- select the 'WhoPaste' menu item.

Now not all applications support the new services - FireFox I'm looking at you!
You can tell these applications because you won't see a 'WhoPaste' item in the context menu!
For those applications you'll have to revert to the earlier 'Copy/HotKey' usage - see below.

    LEOPARD (Mac OSX 10.5.x)
You can configure WhoPaste to fire using the standard Macintosh way of assigning Keyboard Shortcuts.
Open the System Preferences to Keyboard/Keyboard Shortcuts.
Now select the 'Application Keyboard Shortcuts' and add a new item to 'All Applications'.
Enter the menu name as: New Contact from Clipboard
Assign whatever keyboard shortcut you wish - just remember one crucial thing:
If there is a conflict with a keyboard shortcut, the current application's keyboard shortcuts always win!
So, for example, you cannot successfully assign 'Command-P' to WhoPaste.

Now inside any application, select some contact data, 'Copy' it to the clipboard, then use the keyboard shortcut to open WhoPaste.

There is also an optional contextual menu plugin which can be installed using WhoPaste Preferences/Components.

    TIGER (Mac OSX 10.4.x)
    WhoPaste no longer supports Tiger.
